Thank you to all the wonderful donors who have been generous to Slant. We will be contacting you soon to find out which gifts, if any, you’d like sent to you. We are so grateful for your support, which will allow us to program this year’s events. Many many thanks.
If you would like to contribute, it’s not too late to help our little film festival.
Taco Time: We still don't have a photo of film submission. More Tex-Mex, then!
There’s just one week left to submit your film to Slant, Houston’s Asian American film festival. Make sure your entries are postmarked by next Saturday, January 30th. Submit up to 3 short films for $10. (Shorts are defined as works 30 minutes and under.) Those who get into the fest will be paid an honorarium.
Thanks to all the generous folks who have heeded our call for help and donated to Slant!
Many thanks too to those who have donated items to our gift arsenal for donors. Tak Toyoshima, who draws the Secret Asian Man comic strip, has just given us 10 copies of his new book: Secret Asian Man: The Daily Days. And the publisher of Hyphen was already on board with donating subscriptions. Both of these gifts go to those who donate $100 or more. But we have limited quantities of both, so act sooner rather than later.
Thank you, everyone! We are touched by all of your support and are steadily working towards our goal of raising $1,500.
The economy is trying to kick our ass. But we’re not going to let it! This year, due to cuts in funding to arts organization, the budget for Slant has decreased. We’re putting our immigrant ways of thrift to good use, but that can only get us so far. So now, dear public, friends and supporters, we turn to you. We’ve raised some of the budget for Slant. But we need a little help. To be exact, we need to raise $1,500. Can you help? Donations are tax deductible and go towards paying our filmmakers and performers (something that’s pretty unique to our film fest.) Plus, we’ll send you some nice gifts. Plus, we will love you. Yes, money can buy love!
Tex-Mex: We don't have a photo of film submission, so enjoy a photo of some tasty enchiladas.

It’s hard to believe that the Slant Film Festival is coming up on its 10th anniversary and has never had its own website. Well, here it is finally. It’s under construction, so don’t judge.
